Recreational Supplies - Safety
Chaltrek can offer you professional safety equipment with
safety ratings. It might be items some of us have never worried about to take along on camping trips but they take in little space and can proof to be a blessing when out in the bush.
Think about bells and whistles and bear spray to help keep those bears away. Think about cordage and ropes that have so many uses...from part of some serious climbing gear to functioning as a clothes line or to hang up food items away from furry critters.
And let's not forget carabiners, insect repellent and flares, just to name some more items.
Facts about bear spray Did you know bears can charge at speeds up to 30 miles per hour or more? Bear or pepper spray is an important tool, used as self defence in case a bear is too close for comfort. It comes in an aerosol can containing a concentration of Oleoresin Capsicum, which is extracted from chili peppers. It will incapacitate the bear so you have time to get out of the way.
Make sure you read the label and take the plastic and any tie wraps off before you take it on your trip. If a bear is looking you in the eye you won't have time for all that.
Be aware of the wind direction at any time when you venture out and make sure to stand upwind from the direction you are spraying. You can spray up to 6 meters away from the bear. Spray for about 5 seconds and get out of the way as soon as you see a safe opportunity! |
So see us before you head out into the bush; you will be glad you did when you encounter a challenge out there!
