Traditional laced snowshoes offer more variety of models and are adapable to different snow conditions. Add the harness of your choice and you are all set. Their esthetics are appealing and with regular varnishing will last a lifetime.

New generation snowshoes have decking as opposed to lacing. They are maintenance free and the harnesses are an integral part of the shoe. There will be more floatation surface than the traditional models.
